VRV test

So I tried to adjust the shift points on the c6 after hooking the modulator vacuum line up to the vrv. Previously it vas hooked up to direct vacuum and wasnt shifting right. After adjusting it in both directions I couldn't get it to even shift to second unless I manually shifted, and I couldn't get it to shift into 3rd at all. I removed the vrv and blew though the little pipe and twisted the throttle dial thingy and there was no variation in resistance. I'm guessing its fried but just want to confirm my suspicions.

I am in Aus so have to order the part, is this the direct replacement?
NEW Ford Transmission Vacuum Throttle Regulator Valve TP Sensor 7 3 Diesel | eBay

Sorry for the long post but help/advice would be appreciated. Should I replace the modulator at the same time?

Oh well , Just bought a green stripe modulator as well. Pity it takes so long to get stuff from the U.S. You would think it would be quicker, being a down hill delivery and all.

that looks like the right part.
FWIW, even with no vacuum at all, the c6 will still shift, just a bit late. i drove mine for a long time that way. i usually shifted it manually, otherwise it would grab second a little above 25mph and 3rd somewhere around 45. with a proper vacuum system, i can now be in 3rd at 25 if i'm just cruising around a neighborhood or whatever.

having the modulator hooked up to direct vacuum is very wrong, it tells the tranny that you're always at idle, so it never turns up the fluid pressure inside to handle the extra torque when you put your foot into it.

So, my VRV and modulator arrived from U.S. ebay today which I am very pleased about. 10 days delivery from the U.S. is pretty good. I went outside and put the vrv on and put it in the approximate position the old one was on. took it out for a drive and all gears shifting normally. the gear shifts are so smooth I had to check manually it was going through okay, but all is good. I don't have my ick down rod connected if any one is interested. I can recommend the part listed above.
