New to the board

Just bought a 49 F1 and excited to have it. Anyone no where I can find the upper hood latching mechanism? Currently the previous owner had a pad lock to hold the hood down. The truck has the bottom latching plugger but nothing that should be attached to the hood itself to make the hood latch work. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Pic to come soon.

Welcome dferrell! So, beside the goober fix on the hood, what other gifts did the previous owner (PO) bequeath to you?

Welcome to FTE!

We need to see pics of your truck. It feeds our addiction, and we must have them...

Pics have to be somewhere on the Internet before you can put them in a post. I use Photobucket, but you can use any picture hosting site.

Here's one way to do it.

Go to Photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Hey Dferrell,
Welcome Aboard! Good to have another Texas member on here.
Another way to post pics is to join this site ($20) - you get a little paperclip icon on your page & you just click that & can post directly from your harddrive (very easy).

Good luck over there. Where are you from in Texas?

Thank you to all that replied, your response and offers to help have been both a surprise and a huge relief for me. I am completely new to classic trucks, I retired from active duty at Fort Benning, GA in 2008 and my out going Commanding General had a 47 F1 and I fell in love with the truck. This then I have been trying to get one (thank I could afford). This one certainly needs some work but it's running and the body is in decent shape.

Ben 73058, I am right down the road in San Antonio, would love to meet you and pick your brain on everything you think might need to know.

Hey Dferrell,
No problem just shoot me a PM next time you are through Austin.
We also have a couple of members there locally in San Antonio - (2) that come to mind are Tractormanbill & 38coupe.

Hi Dferrell.
I bought my 49 F1 last October and have needed lots of parts. LMC Truck online catalog has new hood latch parts. Also try Craigslist.
