Dennis Carpenter division bar

I was installing new door parts yesterday (from DC of course) and noticed that the bottom screw on the vent window wouldn't tighten into the division bar. After much fuss, I finally figured out that the caged nut in the division bar was the wrong size... too big! After the division bar is installed is the wrong time to figure that one out!

I've got 2 sets of old factory division bars and they both used the smaller nuts, so I'm not sure what's up the DC stuff. Rather than try to find a bigger screw, I was able to bend the cage and remove the larger nut from the DC bar replacing it with the factory nut. This is not a big deal with the bar OUT of the door.

I guess the point is... check your nuts!

Did you keep the nut from the new piece and check its size ?? My hunch is the threads ORIGINALLY from Ford for that screw as well as the ones holding the vent rubber retainer to the door are the same size...the screws for those 2 locations btw are different types of heads...and did you remember that tiny brass spacer at the division bar to vent rubber channel screw location ??

What screws and caged nuts are you referring to?

C1TZ-8122296-C .. Right & C1TZ-8122297-C Left .. Division Bar.

C1TZ-81222A26-A Right & C1TZ-81222A27-A Left .. Bracket-Front Door Vent Window Weatherstrip Retainer to Division Bar.

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see the screw or nut on the diagram. 21481 looks to be the brass spacer that cs65 is talking about.. and it would run through it from the base of the vent window to a tab on the division bar.

I was just curious if anyone else had the same problem. I really think my screws are original.. maybe they accidentally used the same nuts as the vent rubber retainer. (I'll check the size tomorrow)

7C-8121481-A .. Spacer-Front Door Vent Window Retaining Screw / 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1000 / 1965/67 Econoline / 1967/69 F800/1000.

Shown in pic above weatherstrip: 52742-S(8) .. Screw - Pan Head - Philips #8 -15 x 3/4" long.

Not shown in pic, listed with vent frame (21608) in text: 378058-S8 .. Screw - Pan Head - Philips #8 -32 x 13/16" long.

"Squire" Don (camperspecial65) retired, scrounges PNW wrecking yards. Has taken more of these trucks apart than FoMoCo probably assembled in a day, knows where every screw/nut belongs.
