56 Ford F-100 Steering Column Parts

First, I apologize for not mastering the ability to post pictures. I also visit the Y-Block Forever site and the process to post pictures there is very easy. Any pictures I have posted here are with the help of other members after I have given up and they have posted for me. My question is the bracket that holds the steering column to the bottom of the dash. This bracked has an opening for the wiring harness to run from the hear of the horn button and along the top of the steering column shaft, thru the bracket, and continues along the column to exit the floor board. On both sides of the bracket where the wire harness goes thru it, there are two small holes. I am not talking about the two oblong holes in the top of the bracket that attach the bracket to the dash. I am not talking about the two holes on the bottom of the bracket that hold the steering column to the bracket. I am talking about two much small holes on the face of the bracket on each side where the wiring harness passes thru the top of the bracket. Are these in the original bracket? I also have two small holes drilled in the right side of the bracket with no apparent purpose. I want to weld these holes shut if they are not stock. Can anyone tell me if their brackets have any of these holes? They are about 1/8" holes.

The hole / notch in the top of the bracket is for the shifter for the column mounted 3 speed. The horn wire runs down the inside of the column and exits though the center of the steering box into the engine compartment. If you have turn signals the wiring for them is held to the side of the column by a couple of C-shaped clips. Here is an original bracket:

Sounds like someone has drilled a couple extra holes in yours. I've seen this done before for indicator lights for turn signals, hazards, or whatever.

Thanks CC! I have four holes to weld shut before I finish it. How difficult was it to post those pictures? I tried photo bucket but still got confused in the process. Thanks again for keeping me in track!

I just have a "misc" gallery / album in my profile that I post pictures like this from. I used to use Photobucket, but it seems like they are always changing it...

Do you need pics of the clips and stuff too?

I think I have it figured out except for the proper routing of the wire. How many clips for stock application and what is the correct position on the column for the wire to be placed? Seems like it would be on the bottom...then over the top of the loop that holds the column to the brakcet and right back to the column on the other side. I will try the alblum option here. I used to be a supporting member but I have not kept up my membership. I need to get that done.

Hey Outlaw,
On pic posting - I never could get the photobucket/flicker process to work - too complicated for my old brain. If you join the site ($20/yr) you get a nice little paperclip icon on the main page & you just click that & it let's you search your hard drive for pics to post - much easier.

Good luck over there.

I don't know if it is proper, but the two columns I had both had 2 clips and the wire ran down the left hand side.
