Transmission Cooler, Lines, and Filter upgrade

So my tranny front seal leak was due to a overheat, I filled it up with fluid today, ran fine with no leaks. So the big ol' Ford is on the road again.

Now I'm going to upgrade my transmission cooler, lines, and filters.

this is the aux cooler I am looking at:

Ford Aux Tranmisson Cooler 310-900-3000

It comes with a e-fan that is tstat controlled so it only starts cooling the tranny when it needs to.

This is the external filter kit I am looking at:

External Transmission Filter Kit

Now I just need to find a snap ring kit for the filter, and a temp gauge.

Any suggestions?

That cooler is nice, but unless you plan to spend a lot of time pulling HUGE loads or it gets REALLY hot where you live, it is a little much.

As for the filter, from personal experience, stay away. I put one in when I did my trans service and it failed within 500 miles. It sprayed about 4 quarts of fluid ALL over the front end of my truck and my engine. Switched over to this for about $30.

Thank you Evan, yes the truck does alot of heavy towing in hot weather (80-100*F) with air conditioning as well (or hopefully), most of our loads are 18K+, so yes it is a heavy hauler.

That remote filter looks a lot nicer than the inline!

That cooler sounds like a great fit for you. I HIGHLY recommend the remote filter. I am using the same Motorcraft FL-1A filter as the engine so I Know it won't fail me.

Evan, do you have a Part number for that filter housing, or where you got it from?

Trans Dapt #1028. Bought it at the local Baxter Auto Parts.
