So if my 2010 6.4 is making oil through dilution is there any oil type that would prevent damage measurably better than another?

I see a lot of opinions about synthetic vs Dino, etc. but if I'm changing my oil every 5k is there a good argument for spending the extra money for the synthetics?

I'm waiting for my first results from a Blackstone submission that I just made on my new (used) truck. But I did notice some slight oil gain in my first 5000 miles.

Are there properties, additives, etc in any particular oil that would reduce bearing washing, rocker arm failures, etc that seems to be attributed to fuel diluted oil?

 

I use the recommended motorcraft dino 15-40wt from Walmart. Everyone should stick to the 5k oil changes because of the emissions.

Get sometime to monitor your regens so you know the intervals and when it is happening so you can not shut the motor down till you burn off the extra fuel.

Scanguage II is one and I think edge insight is another that can monitor your vitals.

 

The best oil choice is MORE OIL! That means changing it often enough to minimize the amount of fuel dilution. Most can do this with 5,000 mile change intervals, and depending on your operating conditions this will probably work for you. Post up your UOA when you get it, that will give us more info.
