I just sent the sample off on Monday as well. While about to post this I saw the other thread similar to this. I changed the oil about 600 miles prior to the 5k mark due to the oil being a year old and the fact I'm leaving on vacation next week pulling the 5er. Here it is.
I've been trying to!! I mainly use this one to pull the 5er, and my everyday truck is the 7.3L Excursion. I really didn't realize how few of miles I had on it last year until I went to change the oil! I bet it doesn't wait that long next time!
Wow, didn't realize it had cut the bottom of my post off as I was just playing around with Paint. Here is the bottom of it. I love the results of the fuel in the oil!
Looks like those of us that are careful and watch for the regens, then let it idle after putting in park while in regen, are ending up with good results as far as oil dilution.
Looks good, I just changed my il and when I was going to pull the sample my phone rang...needless to say I changed the oil, finished it up and realized I forgot to pull the sample.....idiot! I already dumped the oil in my heating oil tank so have to wait until next time.....thats what I ge t for having a few cold ones, a good phone call and the heat!!!!

I though putting the truck in park while regen was running, would disable regen. Is this not the case?
hey golfmedik did they say anything about the iron or aluminum on your 3/25/11 sample?
and senix how about on your sample from 8/4/10 did they say anything about the iron or aluminum?

For me it is always the same. Heavy towing causing the wear. Cross Country runs at 23K in 100F will do it.
Nothing has ever been indicated otherwise.
I don't have a soft copy of that report handy but I will look for it.

Yes, I should've mad myself more clear. When in regen, I put the truck in park and idle it for about 2 minutes to let the process stop as well as let the injector pressure get back to normal. Hopefully that way, not leaking injectors.

The truck was in the break in period then and had just made a run to Charleston pulling a 15K 5er. My aluminum was 19 and my Iron was 96. They said this was expected during break in and to continue to work the engine and they would lower. That's exactly what has happened.

You list 15w40 but don't say what brand you use. Would be good to know.
