Bronco fuel trouble

Ok I have had some fuel delivery issues (I think) I have an89 full sized bronco with a strait 6 4.9L while I was coming home from acamping trip I was towing a small single axle trailer with kayaks and a canoe well at the top of the hill it chugged andthen die it would not restart. I figured it was to ignition module that I havehad trouble with it getting to hot and the vehicle just dyeing but this time ischugged so we let cool off for about 35 minutes and then it started with alittle chugging but that was after I tapped the fuel filter and fuel pump with a hammer just in case it may have somethingclogging it well it started and drove about 20 miles and then had the same problem. When I finally got it home the codes thatit was throwing were 51 (engine temp too high) and 67 (neutral switch). Ithink the neutral code was through because I pulled the clutch out while I wasstarting it and put the clutch back in. asfor the engine getting too hot will it shut off fuel for some reason it wouldstop running because of a hot engine? Could it just be a bad fuel pump going out I noticedthe pump was wining when I got it started and it did run for a little whileafter I changed the fuel filter. so any help would be great,<o></o>

You suspect the cause is the fuel, so you need to check which fuel pressure you're getting. The truck is an EFI right? I think for the I6 the pressure should be near 50psi at the rail.

yes it is an efi I will most likely rent a pressure gage and test it tomorrow but I am just worried it could still be the ICM I replaced it last fall due to it dying on the mountain during hunting session but could the ICM getting too hot cause it to chug I don't remember that happening last time.
