Proud of The Old 6.0
So,
The wife and I have taken our yearly vacation, came back to Cape May NJ for the second year in a row, I have to say I was rather pleased with the truck this trip.
This is the first real long tow with the Power Max and New Sticks. This truck makes way more power down low now, so much so that I can pull the 5er up a hill at speed and the trans wouldnt down shift.
With that being said I wanted to keep the EGT's at 1000* or under...for my comfort, so I stopped using the cruise and I would let the truck drop a gear while pulling up a grade. I normally dont use the cruise when towing anyway, but I figured I would give my foot a rest.
My temps stayed in check, I didnt see a EOT reading over 215*, my delta was between 4-8* depending on grade, coolant fan only came on once after a pee break and truck was on high idle for a bit, the highest EGT I saw was 1200* and I used just short of 24 gallons to get here, which averaged me about 13.1 mpg. Not too bad considering im ust about 21,500 with the truck, 5er, wife, dog, and supplies.
I have to say after considerng selling the truck I have to ask myself why because this tuck has been great to me. Im still tosing around the idea of doing a dually conversion but I would really like to replace the rear end instead of use adapters, so we will see. The truck was much more stable now that I have a set of BFG's on it, there is a night and day difference between these tires and the Coopers that were on it last year.
So all in all it was a great trip, and I hope she treats me just as good on the return drive.

we just got back from colorado a week a go. We did not have any issues with the truck, egt at 1250 a couple of time due to CC. Anyhow crossed all hills and dales with no issues avg I would guess around 11-11.5 overall (have not done a final fuel to check totals). It is our travel vehicle and we are happy. did get some temps up to 225 for oil and some 220's for water on long pulls, fan came on temps went down. Crested the pulls and temps went down. spreads stayed at 6-10 deg overall. we are happy also.
BTW, put the new BFGs not the oem type on a couple years ago, at first they were squirmy, work well after about 600 miles still ride well at 60 & 65 PSI.

Every once and a while you need to post a little happy amongst the 6.0 doom and gloom around here.
On an even happier note I had a 6.4 and 6.7 owner gang up on me at the pool and asked how they could get there trucks to sound like mine.
I told the 6.4 guy to trade his in for a 6.0, and I told the 6.7 guy give me your keys and I'll give you mine!!!
And the 6.4 guy was whining about his fuel mileage towing a 9k bumper pull when he came to my site to look my truck over he wanted to know how my fuel mileage was and I told him, he called BS on me and then I whipped out my log book from day 1....touche

To add to sarge's good news, I just got back from one of my three annual Eastern Sierras trips a week ago and the truck was flawless. All stock except for filters listed in sig. Took the 7% grade out of Bishop at 60 mph in cruise all the way. Dropped it into 3rd about 3 miles south of Lake crowley but stayed on cruise. Trip up got 11.6 mpg and the return trip got 13.1 mpg. 31' 5er is 11K dry so estimated at 13K loaded. App. 900 miles r/t.
