Fuel Cap

My fuel cap is busted; seals gone. Trying to keep half my gas from evaporating away; this pig drinks enough without any help. Anyway I got one but it cannot be right; I cant get it to spin on. The parts counter guy asked something about being e-vap equipped. I dont what this but I am guessing I do cause I said no. Before I make another trip to the store could someone confirm? Thx

Btw... Are there any fuel cap recommendations? The one I have lasted less than a year. I prefer not to waste my money on another cheapy. This old one is locking; I moved to a better neighborhood so it doesnt have to lock any more.

That's an evap cap. what parts house you going to? Autoloser or chucky shucks? both a lost cause, those guys couldn't find spark plugs for a riding lawn mower if you drove it into the store.

orielly. and their parts are usually crap quality. I was driving by when I thought of this... Shouldn't be that hard of a thing not to screw up.

I don't know why people like to talk trash about autoparts stores... But anyway, if you have a vent line coming out of your fuel tank running up the passenger side frame rail then you have the evap system and therefore need the non-vented cap. If you don't or the evap system has been removed and lines plugged, you will need the vented cap. Either cap will probably fit really tight at first. The pic of the 6023 is for a evap system. Double check you filler neck opening as well to ensure it's not mangled up.
