Help finding a C6 transmission

Hi guys,

I'm a new member, thanks to buying a '65 F250. My name is Mike, live in No CA, San Jose. Area. Truck has a 4 on-the-floor, and I'm looking for a C6 tranny for my FE motor, as the current tranny needs repairs, and any help or direction would be appreciated. Thank you,
Mike

Welcome to FTE. You are tackling a much bigger project with the C6, as opposed to replacing or rebuilding the 4 speed. Look for a C6 that came from an FE, so that the bell housing will bolt right up. Try a search of this forum. There are a number of members who have swapped in a C6. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I've checked SJ pik n pull, no luck locally, but people spoken to have no idea of what an FE is, or there is no way to include it in searching their site. Someone posted a site for a new one & I can call them during the week. I am not a mechanic so all input is greatly appreciated, thanks again. Mike

Look for a C6 that came from an FE: 1968/76 F100/350 360/390 .. so that the bell housing will bolt right up.
Bell housing: M/T only. Converter housing: A/T.

C6 converter housing is made as part of the transmission case.

You will need a C6 from one of these trucks, as the 1966/71 FE car C6's have different length output shafts and extension housings.

No, I'm saying the opposite! You do not want a car C6!

Thanks, Bill,

Mattrod68 posted a link, and I spoke with the owner and he said that it had the shorter shaft, and it came out of '67 F250. The link has a couple of pics, maybe you can advise me before i drop a couple of bills on it?

If the C6 came from a 1967, it was swapped in.

1965/67 F100/350 352 (1965/72 F350 300 I-6) came with MX Cruise-O-Matic (14 trans pan bolt holes, has a separate converter housing).

1968/76 F100/350 360/390's came with C6's (17 trans pan bolt holes, converter housing made as part of trans case).

MX Cruise-O =

I have a related question for anyone who may know. I already have a c6 I'm going to be swapping into my 66 but I'm curious if I'll need to have a new driveshaft made or if the c6 is the same length as the 4spd that came stock.

You won't have to buy a new one you can have your original driveshaft cut to fit.
