Is it hard to replace a u joint?

Is it hard to replace a u joint?

I think I need to replace a u joint in my rear end,is it hard for someone with no experience?

With anything you need the right tools to make it "easy". Really need a press to get the cross out and back in. A vise can be used but can end up with a broken vise or a broken/bent flange. IF you have a press then the biggest thing is to make sure everything stays straight and you have a proper spacer for the caps to pass through. I am sure there are tons of videos on youtube showing the process.

Before you remove the drive shaft make sure you index it, put a mark on the drive shaft and the rear end so you put it back in the same way to keep the balance.

I've always used a socket and a hammer.

Rent a ball joint press from your local auto parts store, it will make the u-joint job much easier.
