LED tail lights, headlights, and third brake light?

At this point my truck has all the stock lighting on it and it's time for an upgrade. I've been looking around and there's a ton of manufacturers that make these things. It seems that Recon makes some of the best, but they're also the most expensive as well. I've been looking on eBay mostly as they seem to have the best pricing. Been looking at these tails:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMOKED-97-03-F150-99-07-F250-F350-F450-F550-PHILIPS-LED-PERFORM-TAIL-LIGHTS-LAMP-/380611324004?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item589e33e864&vxp=mtr
This third brake light:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-08-FORD-F250-F350-95-03-RANGER-FULL-L-E-D-LED-3RD-BRAKE-CARGO-LIGHT-SMOKE-/281116083077?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4173d30385&vxp=mtr
And these headlights:

Essentially they're all just Recon knock-offs but for MUCH cheaper. Anyone have experience running aftermarket lighting?

I've had Recon for years, never had any issues whatsoever. I have had the eBay strobe light stuff...garbage. IMO, if you're keeping the truck, go Recon. Much better quality and looks. It's funny though, all these things are pretty much made in China...

I agree the Recon is quality stuff, but it goes back to you get what you paid for. The complete setup I listed is around 400 dollars. A similar setup with Recon would be 900 dollars. For how simple the lights are on these trucks I just don't see it worth 500 dollars. 500 dollars can buy me an upgraded driveshaft for my S4. lol

I understand where you're coming from. The strobe light fiasco I had ticked me off cause there was a lot more time/work involved on the install.

Yea, usually the cheaper products do require some more work, but for a guy like myself that works on vehicles every day it's not a big deal. To me they are close enough to the Recon stuff that I think it would be worth it.

Haha! I've seen a couple other Audi owners here as well. I work for a VW/Audi dealership as a technician. My B5 S4 has been pretty modified at this point. I've got everything done on it besides bigger turbos which is coming later this year. I would like to pick up a third vehicle to drive so I can leave it down as long as I need to do things and not be in a rush.

Nice, mike is mostly stock, just visual upgrades, led tails, interior, MTM 10mm spacers, not sure I want to drop the kind of coin it takes to upgrade the motor in my car

The RS4 isn't easily upgraded, it's essentially already a build car. The only thing you can do without breaking the bank would be downpipes, exhaust, intake, and a tune. They do make a supercharger for it, but it's like 10,000 dollars. Even the exhaust, intake, and a tune will set you back probably 3,500 - 4,000 for slight power gains. The braking and suspension systems weren't really made to be toyed with either and neither was the drivetrain. Most people just tint them, put different wheels on, and drive it.

I just did a JHM cat back 2.75, def lets the car breathe a little better, they have an SC they are about to drop, but if I want that much more speed, I'll buy something else. I am going to upgrade the snub and trans mount, just to tighten up the drive line, have RS6 reps for my snows

Perfect! The SC is just too pricey for me, especially considering what it costs I could buy a whole nother car. You will like the snub and trans mounts. I've got the 034 street density snub, motor, trans, and diff carrier mounts plus the Apikol rear diff mount. Makes for a very locked-down drivetrain without too much vibration in the cabin. My summer setup is the 18" Avus wheels and the summer setup is the 17" Avus wheels.'

i have recon smoked roof light covers and their smoked led third brake light for about four years now and they still look brand new. Recon smoked products are actually smoked not too black but WAY nicer than the cheap stuff. My brother has a third brake light from some cheap e-bay seller and though its very nice has never leaked like the factory one its smoked color is more clear like 5% tint. At least his F150 doesnt leak when it rains now LOL
