Hey all! . I hope everyone is enjoying the mild summer heat :-o. LOL!
Hope your weekend is going well. :-). I brought home my Camaro SS on Friday. Woooohoooo! Definitely excited and its nicer in person than it was in the pictures!
Only issue is it seemed to turn over a bit slow for my liking, so I threw the battery on a charger and noticed it only had a 25% charge. Not good. I called the dealer and let them know. They said for me to make an appt to have it looked at and if they load test it and its low, they will replace it for free.
Meanwhile, I put it on a charger overnight and got it up to 100% charge late this morning and took it off the charger. This afternoon I went to start it and it started faster than yesterday, but still not to my liking. I have a feeling the car sat too long and it killed the battery. :-/. Since I don't have a load tester (just a regular digital testing meter), I'll take it in and see what gives. I think it's low on CCAs
What do you all think?

I appreciate that, Mr. Greg.
Unfortunately I'm stuck going to the pool with the wife and kid today. I don't understand why the heck they want to go to the pool when it is going to be 117 today. Personally, I think that's insane, plus I have a major headache and really don't feel like going in the first place, but that's a whole 'nother story.
Anyway, it would depend on when we're going and when we get back. Wish I could do it now since it's "not so hot" at the moment.
But depending on when they say I can come down and they can "fit me in" at the dealer, I might get with you this week and we'll see what it reads. I'm hoping they can at least have me come in, do the test of the battery and charging system and see that the battery reading low and schedule to replace it.
But I do appreciate the offer sir!

You can also take it by most chain part houses or even walmart. I think they all check them for free.
I don't think I will be going anywhere in this heat, so feel free to contact me and come by.
I will PM you my cell # and you can call or text if the need or want arises.

Ya, I thought about that too. I know Autozone is usually good about that; at least with the "check engine light" tester, so I don't see why they wouldn't have a battery load tester as well.
But we'll figure it out. I'm dreading going out to the pool I think it's insane in this heat, but I'm losing 2 to 1. LOL
But we'll see how it goes afterwards. If I'm not a piece of fried bacon after this pool fiasco and I'm up to it, I'll give you a shout and see about dropping by to test the battery out.
Again, I truly appreciate the offer and also sent my info back to ya.

Hi all! new chapter member here, been on FTE for awhile but getting more active. I currently have two Ford trucks, a 2006 CC Super duty with a 6.0, and a 79 F150 that I have been doing a resto- mod on. I mainly check in on the '73-'79 forum but branching out a bit. Hope everybody is staying cool this weekend.

The move was the worst one in my life. The temps were over 100, and we got started late, and ended up moving in the middle of the heat. And the truck didn't want to start twice. On top of that, we had to do it with no AC because we rolled the windows down and could not get them back up (without having to take both door panels off, which we did not have time for). We got everything in the house, but it is still sitting in my living room because the very next day I went on the 4x4 trip with the So Cal gang, and the truck overheated twice, and refused to start so many times I lost count.
It was 110 degrees in the shade that day. To top all of that off, was the frying of the starter 10 minutes after we left the OHV area. It did not disengage from the engine and was dragging (we did not know this at the time however), we stopped to see what was wrong, and heard crackling like an overheated engine makes. So we let it sit, and later smelled fire, saw smoke from the trans area and ran over to discover it was still shorting out somewhere. So we disconnected the battery and the noise stopped. Trey, from the So cal chapter crawled underneath with his fire extinguisher, and found the starter had a hole melted in the bottom of it.
So we pushed it into a parking spot at this country store/gas station and Sean (wpnaes) the So Cal chapter leader gave me a ride to Lebec where I exited the freeway on the way down here. There is a Motel 6 here, and I have spent the last two nights here. I was able to get the Bronco towed here yesterday ($360 because it is the middle of nowhere) and dropped off at a repair shop. Today I got it back after paying $462 to have a starter put in, one wire, a starter solenoid, and a push button to start the truck with!. Again, because it is the middle of nowhere.
So, how was everyone else's weekend LOL. I am just going to chalk it up to experience and a couple of bad decisions I made. Should have stayed home on Saturday to get the bronco fixed first, and finish moving in, but I chose to come on the trip because it was planned 3 months in advance, and I did not want to miss out.
