One of our User's Sparky has graciously submitted his Check list to starting problems.

In order to get the starter to turn over the engine with the ignition switch you need:
a) 12 volts to the ignition switch on the large yellow wire battery hooked up
b) 12 volts out of the ignition switch on the red/blue striped wire when switch turned to start
c) 12 volts into the neutral safety switch on the red/blue striped wire when key to start
d) 12 volts out of the neutral safety switch on the other red/blue striped wire when tranny is in park or neutral and key to start
e) 12 volts to the wire on the "S" terminal of the starter relay also red/blue striped when tranny is in park or neutral and key to start
f) a good clean ground under the starter relay mount plate and bolts
g) a good starter relay, this can be checked by jumping 12 volts to the "S" terminal. If starter turns relay is good. Also note it wont work if the ground for the relay mount is no good.
If it is a manual tranny there is no neutral safety switch, just a jumper wire.... big surprise it is red/blue striped Located just inside the engine compartment on the drivers side where all the wires come thru the firewall.
