Hi-lift what are you doing?

So i am in a quandry, I have a lifted Excursion, and I am not really sure where to stow my Hi-lift jack, it just takes up so much danged room and gets in the way all the time, i find myself constantly moving it. What do you store in your truck and how for the purpose of jacking the truck for tire change?

The high lifts are only rated to 5000lbs (working load); I've bent one while lifting the back of an Ex from the receiver hitch, plus there aren't many good places to lift from- forget those stock bumpers. That said, mine mounts to the tire rack.

Hi-lift website states tested strength to 7000lbs, i feel like this should get one corner off the ground. What would you recommend in stead of a high lift?

The part that makes contact with the vehicle...the "foot" of the Hi-Jack...it's not long enough to reach the frame, so how the heck does it actually work on an Ex? I mean, if you needed to lift a corner, where would you put the foot?

hitch? I guess youd be lifting back half and not just a corner, what do you use to change a flat in your X? Do you keep a full size 8K jack in the back?

Up topside with that future luggage rack is another option.

I have it mounted on the spare tire carrier

using a modified Toyota/Jeep mount. You can use the high lift at any shackle or rated hard point (hitch, D-ring, etc.).

I would only use it for vehicle recovery not tire changing (the LM-100 works great for this). Keep a good bottle jack for tire changing (and recovery), lifting from the axle is usually much safer. There is a fair amount of suspension travel that must be taken up before you will have a wheel in the air when lifting from the vehicle body. High lifts can be a bit unstable in use and require a lot of effort to get the front of an Ex in the air. An extended loaded high lift is like a loaded coil spring...very dangerous if things go wrong.
