Um as far as I know, an econoline would be far from a bolt in. The closest thing to a bolt on is a Dana 60 axle out of a 1972 or earlier f-250

8.8

I put a 2002 Explorer 8.8 in mine. Very little welding, width is pretty much the same. You have to roll over the spring perches and add some shock mounts. Very easy welding. Bolt it all together if you can't weld it yourself and tow it to a welder, they shouldn't charge you much. The rear ends are cheap and you can get posi and disc's on your rig for next to nothing. Good luck and welcome!

Hey Todd,
Here is the article from the Tips & Tricks section up at the top of the Forum. It holds most of the collective wisdom of what fits & what year salvage vehicle to look for. Like Doug above we used a 2001 Explorer 8.8 for our rear end. It was $125 from a salvage place - It didn't look like much but it cleaned up well & works fine. It came with 3.73 gears, disc brakes, & locking diff. We did have to use 1 inch spacers to get the wheels right in the fender wells but it was really pretty straight forward.

That won't help if he wants to keep the 8 stud wheels. I used a 59 Dana 60, pretty much bolt in and a wide range of ratios available. The tailshaft will need to be shortened slightly.

Welcome to FTE!

The pics have to be somewhere on the Internet first. Try this...

Go to Photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ghtsafter1.jpg

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.
