can anyone tell me if my 1989 f250, turbo diesel, auto, engine will be a direct fit in a 1988 f250, non turbo, manual truck? mine lost the tranny and had numerous issues with the e40 in fail mode. found a truck with a blown engine. its a manual (thank goodness) and 4x4. any suggestions?
what type of turbo kit? some of the early kits such as banks for example, used different cross over pipes between the auto and manual trans.
otherwise though for the most part she'll go in there.
im not the original owner so im not positive on the truck. i thought it was factory with an ats breather setup. but it could be a complete ats turbo unit.??
Factory turbo IDI's didn't come about until 1994. It should be a pretty simple swap other than you may need to hammer the firewall a bit to clear your down pipe and the possibly different cross over pipe . You may be able to get the correct pipe from ATS if you need it.
