It really depends on your axle ratio. Look at page 16.

The max for any 4.6 configuration would be 7200 pounds. Your very easily going to go over that. Keep in mind most trailers are quoted bone dry and without options which can add up quickly.
Personally I think your asking for trouble by towing that much. I would load it up just like you would for camping and go pay to have it weighed or hit up a freeway weigh station during off hours for free.

That is pretty debatable and depends on how much and how far they will be towing.
It sounds like they already own the truck, it also sounds like they own the trailer too.
A properly equipped 07 F150 5.4 can be rated for up to 9800 pounds. If they tow 20 days a year I would say they could get away with a 1/2 ton.
Load it up and weigh it first before you make a decision on a new vehicle if you go that route.
