Tightening rocker arms

I'm putting my head back on my 1990 5.8 . When I got the pushrods and rocker arms on and tightend I rotated the cam and two of them from the back not counting the very back one is loose . And I mean the rocker arm is loose I can move the push rod up and down a little. What's wrong ?

Is it loose as in the hydraulic lifter is no longer hydrolocked and you are pushing the pushrod down against the spring in the lifter, or is it loose like there is free space between the pushrod and the rocker arm as if the pushrod suddenly got shorter?

I had the head off because of a bent valve on the front of the head. This problem is towards the back close to the firewall. It seems like the lifter moves very easy like its not hydro locked or however you said it.

I'd pull a lifter out of another bore and try that just for a check. If it's then ok I'd say the lifter was bad.

You are sure you don't have another bent valve in that cylinder or maybe sticking for some reason ? Being as you had the head off you probably had it all apart ? If not get an air adapter and try to air the cylinder up.
