my first warning sign should have been when he said "we can't figure out how to shim this". Then a few weeks later I saw the pinion seal and pumpkin cover leaking. Then I heard gear noise, then i fingered out some shiny metal flake gear oil.
I'm sure the housing is fine - just gotta spray that down with a few cans of brake cleaner, and install all new guts. The carrier may still be good - waiting to hear back on that.
It's rotted out with a transmission that can't figure out how to shift, lol

Waiting on a new toilet paper filter, because mine is at least 3 years old and I imagine it weighs 50 lbs by now. Hopefully that solves the problem, otherwise I'll be buying a transmission, or gas and matches.
And ya, the cab corner is a 9" hole, i lost a flare to bed rust, and the other isn't too far behind. All scratched to **** because i like driving it through the woods.
