Fog lights...recommendations???

I had a set of PIAA 520i yellow fog lights on my last truck and they were actually worse than just using the stock headlights. I head out into snow storms looking for the best powder and those PIAA's put too much light up high lighting up all the snow flakes.

I have a 2013 FX4 and the factory fog lights don't do anything more than light up the first two feet in front of the truck or annoy oncomming traffic. Why does nearly everyone drive with these lights on all the time?

I am thinking of replacing them with a set of Hella Micro DE Premium Fog lights. They have about a 2.5" diameter so I would just need to make a bezel to fill the hole in the bumper.

Otherwise maybe try putting a set of Hella FF75 or Hella Optilux 1450 fog lights behind the grille.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these lights or want to suggest some other brands or models?

Rigid Industries make a number of very good options. All LED. A tad pricey, but worth it. They are our default lighting choice for my fleet and have performed very well, particularly in snow.

Do a search for them, several very clever installation write ups are posted.

Thanks...I didn't know they made fog lights.

I was going to put a set of their driving lights behind my grille...maybe one spot and one driving beam combo. I'll check out their fog lights to see if they will fit down next to the license plate.

Look at their combo bars. Someone on here installed a single row bar in the grill. Very slick.

Their 4 LED flood works very well. We use them as reverse and work lights.

I have used the 30" combo bar all winter and it cut through blizzard conditions nicely.

Holy crap! They're not pricey, they're out-of-this-world, un-Godly expensive. I'm not prepared to give my left one for a 30" light bar.

Any other suggestions?

Yes I know that Rigid lights are very expensive but so are HID lights. Lights come in so many varieties that they are hard to compare just on price.

I didn't see any fog lights at the Rigid site...and my experience with the PIAA's putting out to much light upward makes me not understand how the flood lights would help in heavy snowfall. Is just that they put out so much light that they over power the optical illusioin of the falling snow? Even if they do they would be hard to use on the road...so I think I still want a fog light pattern.

Sure wish I could demo some lights before having to buy them.

Look for the spot beams or one of the combo options. Snow performance has much to do with aim and mounting height.

I think those are going to be too bright for road use...you can probably run all the light you want when you're plowing but I still have to deal with oncoming traffic.

A good properly aimed fog light doesn't put any glare into an oncoming drivers eyes...like the crummy one that come stock on the truck.
