Powerstroke Miles??

So I just sold my 95 F250 and Im looking into buying a 1997 F350 7.3L crew cab Powerstroke. It has 189,000 original miles on it right now. Its a nice truck but I want to make sure I get something that will last a while. So my question is, what mileage is safe when buying an older 7.3?

Thanks ya'll

189k miles isn't even broken in for a PSD! And judging from how nice the truck is, I bet it's had pretty good maintenance to.

Can't help ya with the price as I have no idea what PSD's go for, I never look at those. To expensive to maintain compared to my old IDI's

Yeah that's not a bad price at all. That's actually pretty cheap. That would probably go for 10k around here

A nice truck not horrible mileage, A 7.3 should go 500,000 miles with proper maintenance.
But I'm a cheap ******* the first thing I saw was OBO. So offer him $7900 & see what comes back. If you get it for $8800 not a bad deal.

Look it over good. I would jack the front end up and check ball joints/tie rods. Tires look about shot. That mileage wouldn't really concern me for that motor, just need to consider the rest of the truck. Though I agree, it looks pretty clean, probably pretty well cared for.

Anyone have any comments on the longevity of the E4OD's behind those PSDs?

That 97 E4OD is the later updated model, it will last alot longer than the older (pre 94?) E4OD's so your good in that department.

It is SA from the factory, like all F350's this era.

a few things jump out at me with that truck.
#1: it is way too clean for being 16 years old.
#2: how long ago was it painted, and what kind of body work was done to it.
#3: were the fender flairs put on to hide body rot, or for extra wheel travel?

Exactly what I was thinking, but he is in washington state.

If it is as clean as the pics show it, it is worth 12k

thats a nice one.be sure to have an e40d trans fund set aside, cus odds are high you'll need one durring your ownership duration especially with those miles.that or the common zf5 swap info and price for that handy, either way.
check it out good.make sure it doesn't have a salvage title or something.
