mad dog headers on a dent??

Has anyone used maddog headers on a dent? They are the only ones that have a CJ port opening. I was wondering if anyone has used these and how they fit, how they held up and how they cleared anything that might be a problem.

There's 4 or 5 guys here running Mad Dogs on their FE powered highboys, i don't recall reading about any fitment issues.

I know grinnergetter got a set. I though about it but for now I'm just going with a set of chassis exit headers. I don't know if grinner has put them on yet or not, maybe he will chime in on this.

I've seen multiple threads where people said the workmanship and fit were top notch. they would be 1st on my list if I was buying a new set of fenderwells.

They are the only company that makes them so you are limited to what they have. Their workmanship isn't too well when you look at the headers. The welds on the tubes to the flange look like they are tacks.

I have to step in here.
I have a set and they are first rate.
I have not installed them yet so I could not speak to any problems.
I did talk with Mark the owner at length on the phone and don't anticipate any real problems.
These are not custom headers so I don't expect perfect welds. They are 450 (that's cheap) dollarish pieces, that have to be put together as efficiently as possible in runs for them to make a profit.
Hardly tacks.

I just put a set on my 74 highboy they fit great I just put a small dimple in them to clear the streering shaft. The workmanship seemed very good to me I am glad I bought them.

I had purchased a set I these headers for my cobalt for cheap $160 plus shipping and they worked great, fit properly. Only problem was the replacement exhaust gasket was junk that they sent with the headers. Ran them now for 20,000miles with no defects or problems. Not sure of the fit on the dent but quality for that price is top notch.

Keep in mind that the perches were modified to get that 390 in and those are CJ heads.

Thanks guys. It sounds and looks like they are a fine product. I have L&L now and I love those, but my 545 CJ stroker Might need more than the 1 3/4 primaries L&L offers, I wish L&L would step up to a CJ header but if maddog is as good then no reason to look elsewhere.

I think L&L's quality control issues has been the main factor for most people going to the mad dog headers.

Wow! I guess they have really stepped up. The last set of Mad Dog headers I have seen just had tacks and looked really poor. Now they are looking very acceptable.

Oh yea they have. Those are the welds I was talking about that look HORRID, but the people here have been saying that their welding "skills" have improved.
