What to pay for an excellent condition 7.3 4x4?

Im looking into buying a very nice 1994.5 to 1997 powerstroke 4x4 supercab to be my new daily summertime/fall driver and it seems that people are over pricing these things. Most I see are over $16000. Im willing to pay up to $14000. It being a supercab, its not an f350 which I would think are worth more. Kelly blue book is saying around $9000 but being somewhat rare idk if its right. Thanks for the help

This one for example that I love

That's a nice truck and all, but he's still got 0 bids for a good reason, nobody is going to pay that. A truck like that one, $9000 is a good asking price, I'd probably pay 7-7.5k. Even if it's in such good shape, time takes a toll on everything. If it was an F350, I'd have no problem paying 8-8.5k if it was in as good of shape as that truck.

I think people must be smoking dope these days pretty heavy. The economy in the toilet Washington DC is in Fancy World. This guy is crazy. He wants all the money he paid for it new in 97.
If you can't find a nice truck for $8,000 I wouldn't buy it.
Here is a picture of the 99 Dodge QC 4x4 SLT Lamine V-10, 5 speed, 3:55 Limited Slip Dana 80 Rear Dana 60 Front. I had 72,000 miles I bought it from the original owner for $5500 cash 1.5 years ago.

The V10's can be had cheap since fuel costs shot up. THe older PSD's do hold their value well, it seems, but 15-16k for a near 20 year old truck? I think I only paid $1400 for my 92 4x4 SC 7.3 idi, but it is pretty rough.

A nice pre-SD Powerstroke 4x4 with fair miles and a clean body will run you over $10k for sure.

They've held value remarkably well. The further North you go, the more you're going to pay for a clean one.

If you are looking to spend $14k, I'd look down south, southwest in rust free states, find one there and use the rest of the money to get it to you.

A gas V10 Dodge price can't be compared to a powerstroke, the values are no where near each other. Think what you would have paid for that same Dodge with a Cummins, that would be comparable.

Thanks for the replies guys. Its nice to know I dont need to spend that much. Now its just time to wait and see what comes up. Where else can I find them on the internet? I usually look on ebay, craigslist is a pain when your looking all over the US.

Ford : F-250 7.3 Powerstroke - Lifted and Fully Built 4x4 in Ford | eBay Motors

Use tempest search. Look up a southerns citys zip code and do a search around it. You will find clean trucks that the people dont want an arm and a leg for

To get something in good shape, you should be able to spend $6500-$9,000. Heck, I have even seem some good looking 7.3 superduty trucks with under 160k in the 12-14 grand range..
Just need to be in the right place at the right time, ready to make a deal!

When I was looking the 2nd gen Dodge with a Cummins were in the $8000-$12,000 for nice truck. (1994-2000) That was about a year & half ago. The V-10 pulls with stock Cummins of its Generation. The V-10 300 HP 450 ft lb of torque @ 2400 RPM. I topped a 7% grade with a 10,000# trailer behind my V-10 @ 47 MPH in fourth gear. The 7% grade is about 6 miles of curves.

Your correct on that for sure. My V-10 gets around 12 mpg empty 6.5-8 mpg towing. But for $10,000 difference I can buy a lot of gas. Diesel being as much as $.080 higher per gal. than gas in the west. Gas sure warrants a closer look.
I looked for a Ford both 460, V-10, & 7.3 diesel when I found my Dodge, the cost of the Fords were way high. Back in the day Ford was a much better truck than Dodge but Dodge really stepped up in 1994 with a way improved truck which continues to this day.

I see nice PSD's on my local cl for around 5-7K. There are also a lot of ones above 10k, even up to 20k (Centurian 4dr Bronco)

For example
Ford f250 Powerstroke Diesel 7.3L 4x4 low miles 145k XLT Manual trans.
1996 Ford F250 XLT 4x4 Regular Cab Turbo Diesel
1995 Ford F-250 Extended Cab Powerstroke Diesel 4x4

Jameson, I love that two tone one. It's unique, I'll call him tomorrow. After I look at it more though it dosent look like original paint? Seems it should have pinstripes between the colors
