The Official Candy Cane's Project Thread

I finally decided to install dual exhaust! I was on the fence about headers but finally came to the conclusion that dealing with the heat, minimal HP gain and the limited space on the side of the engine bay, headers (Most are made overseas vs. the original manifolds made here) It wasn't worth the work. I had SpinTech mufflers installed with 2 1/2 pipe from the manifolds to the tailpipes. Now the Candy Cane sounds so sweet! Not loud but a nice low frequency tone (Rumble) that sounds nice and healthy. You can really hear it if I stand on it and I have noticed a significant difference in performance.

Looks good Steve... prolly sounds awesome too.
We all know you're meticulous and detail-oriented so heads up that the non-aluminized tubing and bare steel mufflers will start forming surface rust. I suggest high-heat paint after a thorough wipe-down with acetone - on a cool exhaust system of course.
I wish I had a lift like you have in your shop cuz it's gonna get interesting when the time comes to change the oil in my Ferrari!

Yes there is.... I shot Rustoleum 2000° engine hi-temp gloss clear (over a cast aluminum base coat) on the intake manifold on my '70 FE. It's holding up well and it is waaaay easy to wipe up spilled fuel, dust, grit, and dirt.
