Best Oil?

Best Oil?
FOR YEARS in our work trucks (all stock) and out heavy equiptment trucks we have run Rotella....
my 07 6.0 with 73k miles... what would be the best oil to run to maximize my engine life?
also im seeing that 5k is good for oil changes and 10k for fuel? on the work trucks we were running 8-10k when new and 25-30k on fuel... as the mileages got higher I started doing shorter times between oil on my truck...

5K for oil and 10K for fuel filters is a very good idea. Make sure you use OEM for both filters. I personally like the synthetic 5W40 - I think it is T6 - I get the one at Walmart. It improved my cold starts. When it comes to oil, I think the most important thing is change frequently - 8-10K is toooooo long IMO. Rotella is good stuff

before that, purepower boutique oil, 'cause
kelly was one of my customers, but his oil
is twice the price of rotella..... can't justify
it, given the 5k change interval... the additive
package doen't die, it's the oil itself, it gets
viscosity shear, from doing double duty
as hydraulic fluid for the injectors.
so a drain and refill is about $95 with tax, changing the filter
as well.... i go a bit longer with the fuel filters,
as i buy from one station a block from my house,
and have never found water in the separator, ever.
15k seems reasonable... factory recommendation
is about twice that, i think... 25 or 30k....

The factory interval is 15,000mi. for the fuel filters, and as far as oil I, with over 300,000mi. combined on two 6.0's, have always went 7,500mi OCI.
The shearing issue has been over-blown to the point its laughable. The oil shears, but it doesn't hurt a thing. I have UOA's dating back to '04 and there is no increased wear using 10w-30 vs. 15w/5w-40, in fact if anythingthe 10w-30 has decreased wear.
I currently have been running 10w-30 at 7,500mi. intervals for over 100,000mi., with UOA at every interval, without issue, none. The guys changing at 5,000mi. or less need to reevaluate your oil choices if it truly needed to be changed. The only advantage of using synthetic oil is to extend your oil change interval, if your oil of choice is really done at 5,000mi. you need a different oil.
I use the Deere Plus 50 II 10w-30, and while I believe its good oil, I don't believe its an elixer. Prior to my 10w-30 switch I used there 15w-40 for many years. While it did shear viscosity, it never sheared out of 40wt. at 7,500 OCI's.
Currently the 10w-30 starts out at the upper 30wt. limit and over a 7,500mi. interval it will shear to a mid 30wt., so your 40wt. shearing down to 30wt. isn't the issue.
There is an in-depth discussion over on BITOG with this very issue and many UOA's posted.
