Correct Russ, it was the flexplate and the crank was not bent at all and after looking at how it is mounted in the engine there is no way in hell you could bend it. As far as weather the crank is the same as the IDIT we will find out tomorow. I will post pics.

Hey I found a cast iron flexplate with torq converter plate hiding in my shed, Its got some messed up teeth in four locations around the flywheel but I think it would still be servicable with some time with a file. its part # 1813126C1 PM me If you need one I'm in WA state I will make you a great deal.

Thanks, but I am putting a ZF5 behind the engine I'm building so I wont be needing a flexplate.

the reason for concern.

the mounting on the rear of the crankshaft.

The IDIT crank shaft on the left, IDI on the right. the look the evact same to me, the IDIT is cleaner but that is the only diference I found.

I will get some more pics for ya racer, but as far as I can tell they are identical the only diference I found was the weight bolted to the rear of the shaft and the harmonic balancer are diferent but the shaft is the same. I will get pics for ya though.

well I hope you IDIT guys didnt go out and buy up all the IDI crankshafts beacuse I said they are the same I had a chance today to get a better look at them and I took some pics for you. There are some major diferences in the balance of the two engines.

IDIT on left

IDIT on left, anybody know what this spring is for I found it on the floor not sure where it came from...

IDIT on right

IDIT on right

IDIT front

IDIT closest to camera

IDIT numbers

IDI numbers

kind of hard to see in this picture but the IDIT piston rod on the right Is quite a bit beefier and the wrist pin is bigger

ANy body else think it is strange how clean all the IDIT parts are? I didnt clean them, the whole engine is that way and the IDI engine was like a tarpit

I have both NA and Turbo balancers and I knew there was going to be differrant ballance drilling, But I was unaware of the drilled throw and weight on the rear of the crank. It looks like they changed the balancer and removed weight from the last throw to balance the crank to the heavier rods and rist pins. Well it seems it would be wise to stay with the correct parts when building a NA or Turbo engine. Looks like someone was using High Quality oil in there Turbo engine....sweet...

OK I checked my cranks both are 1805420c2 Both look like your turbo crank. Looks like the c1 crank is a NA 6.9 / 7.3 Both the cranks I have are 94 one is a turbo crank the other came out of a NA 94 e350 van. so could be a late model thing. My van Block is the same casting number as my IDIT but only has a 1/8 pipe oil hole. Still nice to know its a good idea to keep from mixing up the parts.

I would have yours checked. Very good chance just the flex plate bent. I thought you said flywheel, which would be a bit tougher to bend. Flex plates are light and bend easily.

Good info here. I recently disassembled a 94 IDI-T engine that had been rebuilt but someone used an NA crank with turbo rods and turbo pistons. I'm guessing it wasn't very happy with the balance being way off.
