Decel shudder/99 v-10
Hello,
I have a 99 f250sd and I have a shudder on deceleration. It feels like your driving over a rumble strip. I thought it was ujoints, changed them same story. It is an intermittent problem, only upon deceleration. V10 gas motor, 4x4 extended cab truck. 57,000 on the ticker. I did check the rear diff fluid tonight, it was a bit low. It prolly only took about 1/4 of a quart.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Well it's been a month and the noise returned this morning. I locked the hubs as directed in the previous post and the noise was gone. Unlocked the hubs the next day and I didn't hear the noise for a month. It reared its ugly head this morning. Does this sound like a hub issue? It's starting to **** me off!

I had the same issue with my '01 F250 4x4. It would shudder upon deceleration but only if it was in 4H. I had the dealer check it out and they found nothing. Took a couple new trucks from the lot and test drove them...same thing but only in 4H. The test drives were all in a straight line so no wheel grab or tire hop from trying to make a corner. I didn't push it any further. 2H had no shudder at all.

Oh boy, here we go. Took my hubs off and tried to figure out wtf. As I said in my previous post pass side was filthy. Cleaned it all up and couldn't get the hub back on. So I grabbed the center splined shaft( for lack of the proper term), and I could move it 1/4" in any direction.(left, right up or down). In and out it seemed decent. So my next question is what am I looking at to fix this? It's probably a $10 bearing, but it looks intimidating to disassemble/reassemble.
Please advise,thanks-glenn

Took my truck to the dealership today. They told me it needs rh axle ujoints, rh axle yoke, rh hub seals, vac line to rh hub, front stabilizer links. Quoted me $1200 to fix. Took it to a local place ( genoa car care) and he was half of the dealer to fix both sides. That's the route I'm going. It sucks but what do you do? I. Never had a front diff apart and I really don't want to start now. This thing barely fits in my garage. Too many bikes and sleds in the way! Thanks for all the info.
