tuner an gauges

looking at getting some gauges an wanted to have some input. just lookin to get tranny temp, boost an egts. what would be a good brand.

also lookin in to the dptuner f5 an was wondering what should i do for the tunes. i was just thinking about going with 80hp tow, 80hp econo, 100hp performance, 140hp extream an maybe the loop idle. or should i have more of a option for the tow/econo tunes, like a 40hp tow an 80hp an same for the econo. an also i was wonderin is the 140hp ext is to much for a pretty much stock truck should i just do the 120hp race. i have 4in mbrp, 6637 filter an sreawed in wastgate rod? would i need to go with a overboost annihilator or something?

I agree with the F6....on a stock truck anything over 100 performance is a waste..80 tow is a great towing tune, i tow 10000 TT with it..
IMO, I would do 60 and 80 tow,60 and 80 econ,1200rpm hi-idle and 100 performance, if you want to drop some the do 80 tow and 80 economy.
as far as gauges, I like Isspro EV2's

I have DP tunes as noted in my signature, find that I use 60E most of the time. I tow a 10K (empty) fiver and use 40T, according to the folks at DP that is borderline max tow tune for the weight. Have autometer gauges with the factory match face - have worked well so far - no issues at all.

Make sure you look at the new WW2 and understand the differences between that and the WW. I'm running WW2 with a PHP 100P tune and they make a great combo.

I personally like the look and quality of Isspro gauges. They get my vote.

For tunes, I run 80e, 60 tow, and for fun, 120 race. I'm in 80e 98% of the time. I wouldn't waste money on the lope tune, just not worth it in my opinion. I wish I would've gotten high idle especially for this cold winter we have in NJ right now and for idleing for long periods of time.

I'm happy with the PHP tuning. I have the TS-style chip which they call the phoenix and it's $300 but their new hydra hardware is really the way to go. You can order both the wheel and hydra from dieselsite to save on shipping:
WW2: http://www.dieselsite.com/wickedwhee...s-instock.aspx
Hydra: http://www.dieselsite.com/phphydramu...itionchip.aspx

I agree, I would look at the WW2.Personally,i have not read much on it but isn't it making 40+pounds of boost? with what injectors?? with stock injectors and everything else is healthy, then 120 race tune will work..the 140 tunne with stock injectors, all you get is smoke and heat..keep in mind, the turbo works off the fueling/exhaust, at some point you will be looking at injector up grades...How far do you want to go?? With the set up in my signature I do not have the 140 tune

As far as i understand, tuning has nothing to do with boost numbers... Anything above 100hp will demand higher icp, meaning bigger hpop. For bigger hp, the tuner demands more icp, if your hpop can't keep up, it's all for waste. Adding a ww2 won't benefit much with stock injectors and hp oil. Just my $.02, I'm no expert!!

Stock injectors and oil here. Definite performance increase with WW2.

I finished up installing AutoMeter Digital gauges in my truck. I installed water temp, trans temp and EGT with a center mount above the radio. Easy to install and I like the price as well. Next will be boost and a 12v clock.

The lope idle is just a sound....and that's about it. I would put my money toward something useful, like a high idle. Although you say it doesn't get below 20*, I would still use it to make the truck cab warmer, maybe have to jump start another vehicle, and get to where I need to go faster with the engine warmed up. My .02

I haven't towed too much weight, but I like the shift pattern on the 60 tow tune. Holds the gears much longer. I would like to try the 80 tow tune as well. If I was going to be in a situation where I was gonna tow something heavy, I had a tune for it. You never know what you're going to run into.
