Hi there! I have had my truck, aka Bertha, for almost 10 years and it runs well when the battery isn't dead. I don't drive it much because she's kinda scary, honestly. :/
Anyhoo, I have had some life changes come up and sadly I have to sell her. I was hoping to restore her up but I can't now.
I am the third owner of this truck, the second owner put a new engine in it. Since I have moved down south it has rusted quite a bit.
Does anyone know what kind of engine this is and about how much I could get for it? Thank you so much for any help! I super appreciate it!

Welcome to FTE
The engine code is the 4th digit of the VIN
1968/72 F100/350: A = 240 I-6 / B = 300 I-6 / G = 302 2V (1969/72 F100 only) / H = 390 2V / Y = 360 2V.
1968/72 F100/250 4WD: 302 & 390 were not factory installed.
'Course, after 42 years have passed by, who knows if the original size engine is still extant. 360/390's have 5 valve cover bolts per side, 302's have 6.

My pictures aren't showing up? That's weird.
Anyhoo, I was wondering, if the engine was replaced would they change the VIN? Or could I find out somewhere on the engine what it is?
Let me see if this picture will show up:

The VIN remains the same from day one.
The only reasons for a new VIN would be if the truck was a theft recovery and the hidden frame VIN was ground off. Or the truck has a salvage title.
New VIN would only be issued by the DMV or the polizei.
Pic not among those posted: Large dog isn't paying any attention to the cat. That wouldn't happen here.
Cats "ride wide" of this residencia, cuz 5 Basset Hounds do not like cats.
The heater water valve (C3UZ-18495-A) is still available from Ford, but that faucet spigot seems to be doing the job.

The last 6 digits of the VIN is the trucks specific serial number and is muy importante.
People swap in all sorts of engines, but if the serial number doesn't match the VIN on the title, woe betied the unfortunate owner.

No such thing as a truck equivalent 429, Boss or otherwise. 429's were only installed in Passenger Cars, have 7 valve cover bolts per side (ditto 460).
If it is a Boss 429 (which I doubt), it's worth 50 times plus what the truck is, EZ!
No one in their right mind would install a Boss 429 in a truck when they could sell it for 50 grand, plus!
The economy stinks, these trucks are not rare or all that desireable, except to the chosen few, as most people want cars.
So, it's only worth what someone would be willing to pay for it. Now, if it does have a Boss 429, that changes the entire equation.
If longtime well versed Shelby and/or Mustang nuts looked at the engine, I might tend to believe them. But most 'vintage car fanatics' wouldn't know a Boss 429 from a pee pot!
An FTE member went ga-ga because the air cleaner decal on his swapped 429 said "Interceptor." Ford used that name for '68/69 429 2V & 4V's, means nothing inre to any HiPo.
And, as I pointed out, who would know if the air cleaner lid and/or its decal (reproduced) was on the engine originally.

What number did you find?
The value of the truck is all in where you live and what someone is willing to give for it.

Big difference between a 429 and a BOSS 429. That truck likely just a 429(which is found in thousands of Ford cars/trucks in the 70's). The "Boss 429" was only put in a handful of Mustangs.
