Crazy idea

Ok, Kris and Paul...yeah I know yall both helped me alot with this SAS on my Bronco BUT I have a crazy idea now.

I'm thinking about finding a 78-79 Bronco.

I hate to let this Bronco frame go to waste BUT I don't know what would be best...

Swap 78-79 Bronco body on my 1990 frame or swap out my 1990 engine and trans ito 78-79 bronco.

I want one so bad because I don't see them much and I think they look a little better..(old school).

Any ideas? Or am I just talking out of my ***?

well, I cant say Im not disappointed but basically everything will transfer back to the 79. It would be easier to put the axles back under the 79 and swap engines than swapping the tubs. The only issue will be rigging up 302 motor mounts and the zf clutch linkage. The rest is bolt on and go.

What kind of shape is the 79 in? Body work can get very expensive if you cant do it yourself.

No, I'm not meaning my 79 f150. I'm keeping it for a toy. But I want to find a 78-79 Bronco body or something and have my 300 I6 with ZF5 in it...kinda more modern and little bit better on mpgs than a 351m/c6

Forgot you had a 300. I dont know why I thought 302.

If you can find a good Bronco body and frame then it shouldnt be too hard. Look for one with a blown motor or unknown engine trouble. Those always seem to sell pretty reasonable vs a rusted out turd with a freshly built motor.

It would be easier to swap out the engine and zf5 then?

300's came in the 79 won fiddys, so I imagine you could use stock mounts on a 79 Bronco frame. Then it's just mounting the trans and linkage and swapping your coils and what not over to the 79.

Alright, after much deliberation between Slow and Obie-quiet-Trice (3 txt messages) we have decided that we will need you to bring both up and leave them at Kris' for a week. We will charge, and I quote, "a metric chit-ton of beer".

"Why does everyone want to sell their truck after you work on it?" -L

I think the exact phrase was "a metric truck load of beer"

LOL. I might not do it. I just had the idea of 78-79 body on my 90 Bronco frame.

I'm satisfied with it but would love to have a 78-79 Bronco. Maybe one day...if my mind doesn't keep changing
