1970 f250 rear axle swap 2wd
What is my best choice for rear axle to replace my Dana60 so I will have 5 lugs on 4 1/2 to match the CV front ifs. Needs to stand up to built 390, with slicks. I saw thread where carcraft 22 had did this but I could not find where spelled out the rearend utilized

Welcome to the forums.
My preference is a 9", you can reuse one from a bump(that way it bolts in), then just redrill the axle flanges for 4 1/2" bolt circle(instead of the current 5 1/2"). I think some of the guys are just using a CV 8.8.
My '69 F100 runs a car pattern on the rear for car rims to fit(more choices then truck rims).

I'd just use the 8.8 from the crown vic. Track width would be the same. Or maybe one from an Exploder with Disc brakes.
We have tried to redrill the pickup axles and due to the big hole in them it's real hard to get the new pattern laid out without one stud hole being too close to the big hole.

What years did F100's come w/a 9" with 4 1/2" bolt circle wheels?
Some 1980/83 F100's have 5 lug 4 1/2" bolt circle wheels, some have 5 lug 5 1/2" bolt circle wheels.
But, be aware that Crown Vic wheels will not clear the F100's calipers.
8.8" introduced in F100/150's in 1983, but 9's continued to be used thru 1986. If it has an inspection cover, it's an 8.8.

So the stock CV wheels won't fit over the F-100 drum brakes if I redrill the rear axle flanges to utilize 5x4.5 wheels?
Is there any way to make my stock 69 steelies (5x5.5) work on a CV swap?
What's the cheapest and/or easiest solution to get matching wheels on a CV front end swap? I'm trying to stick with a "rat rod" look so stock black wheels w/moonie hub caps & white wall tires is the look I'd like to have but I want a CV front end to get the drop I want.

Number Dummy ,
I believe I have located a 9" rearend out of 83 f150 with 5 on 4 1/2. Have not been able to get to it yet to measure, wondering do you know if the spring perches and the lower shock mounts will match measurements on my 70 f250 so it will bolt in. Without replacing perches or mounts
