Looking For Work.....

Hi All,
I have finished up a contract position the end of April and now am out seeking work - not all that much fun and things are not going as well as hoped at this point. Cash is running critically low and looking for work can be pretty frustrating somedays, but I continue on.
Just thought I would post as networking is a suggested job hunting technique, and see if anyone here has any leads or suggestions.
Just a bit about myself - I grew up around a farm, so I am no stranger to hard labour. Have had jobs in property maintenance and minor construction.
I have a BBA in Marketing and have spent time working in sales, direct marketing, Internet, fundraising and volunteer management.
I am in the Peterborough Area, but willing to commute or re-locate.
I do have a resume that I can have ready in a moment's notice.
So, if anybody can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance guys & gals.
Cheers,
Alex

Yeah - trades seem to be where it is at these days -- if I was a carpenter or bricklayer I could be working now - building boom in the area. Oh-well - me and my expensive piece of paper will just have to wait it out I guess.....ha?
Thanks for clicking in Dennis.

If you have time to get your AZ licence you can drive big trucks. you'll not get rich but it keeps the wolf from the door. Lots of work, but it's a life style. Government may pay for training if you qualify

Good luck

Hey Alex

Like Green Streak said if you get your AZ lic there's lots of work.

The moneys not that bad if you hook up with the right carrier,$800 to $1000 a week for an over the road driver isn't uncommon now a days. Plus you get the benefit of seeing the continent.

Heck get your lic and I'll give you job, my co-pilot is still having trouble finding a good partner. The problems have been
personal hygiene, not respecting the equipment, not pulling their weight, or just not getting with the program and life style change.

But biggest problem has been the money, most of these people came from extremely low paying jobs, once they get out and roll for 2 weeks, get that big pay and a week off, it's hard to get them back in the truck for the next 2 weeks out. They come up with some of the most lame excuses I've ever heard.

Any driving school you call can direct you to some type of funding.
If your currently on U.I.C they'll foot the bill for retraining.

Thanks Nutter.
I might look into it. I grew up around heavy equipment - farming and an International CargoStar Flat Deck.

I got a JOB!
Actually I have had two now - did some temp labour for a few weeks as a delivery driver's assistant / installer.
Now -
I am working as a Marketing and Advertising Coordinator / Director for Charlotte Jewelers in Peterborough.
So, if anybody needs to get out of 'trouble' with the wife or girlfriend for buying more things for their Truck or 'another truck', come on down to the store and I can help you find something to help!
Cheers,
Q.
