Just When My Mind Was Made Up :-X19 Give me yalls opinion

I was set on the MBRP 4in turbo back alum. exhaust with a 6in tip. But then I see a truck that has the exact exhaust look that I am going for. When I go and speak to the owner of the truck, he tells me he has the 5in back with a 6in tip.

I hear it idling and drive away and it sound KILLER! I go look on Magaflow's site (cause thats who's tip he has) and I find the tip that he has and they only make it 5x6. So then I start looking and reading more on the difference between 4in and 5in exhaust and its the same everywhere, even the guy at MBRP tells me the same thing. With the 5in exhaust, you loose low end torque and hp, but gain deeper sound and it will be louder.

So the question is, with a truck that has an egr delete and no tunes, will I notice the loss of hp and torque if I go with the 5in, will I really be able to hear the difference between a 4in and 5in exhaust and is it worth and extra 170 to get the 5in. I would think the 5in is more difficult to install due to it taking up more room and its already cramped as it is, esp the down pipe. Let me know. I am also not looking for a lot of cab noise as I take several trip to Atlanta from New Orleans a year and I dont want to have a headache after an 8hr ride.

Thinking the 4in is sounding better and better as I sit here and type this, but let me know what you think

I once considered going down this road myself and unless you plan on going with some much bigger injectors and turbo, it's really not worth it.

4 inches turbo back is the best if you plan on a tuning your engine or even adding a Powermax. Otherwise, get the 4 inch MBRP system and be happy.

What about replacing the muffler with the Walker BTM for better flow (and lower egt's) and slightly better sound...or so I've been told

Haha so true. Youre worried if 4 and 5" will flow alright when it comes with 3". A 4" downpipe is hard enough to fit in. 5" is out of the question. Whatever you do its probly gunna rub the intake mani. so make sure you wrap the new pipe in the old exhaust heat shield wherever it hits the frame or anything. I went with 4" all the way, no muff no cat, with a 7" tip. Honestly the tip muffles it a little bit but looks awesome.

Mine is a stock exhaust with a muffler delete done at a muffler shop ($90) and did the cat delete myself ($65). Truck has the chrome package so came with a chrome tip so was "ahead" in the regard. So all together it cost me $155 and sounds great. Have a buddy who has a 5 inch exhaust, i think mbrp, no cat but muffler sounds awesome but clunks over every bump so don't know if its due to being too big or put on poorly.

Obviously comes down to what you want but my truck is completely stock other than the blue spring upgrade and no plans to "upgrade" the exhaust even if I get a SCT tuner unless I do turbo, injectors, etc.

GOOD LUCK!

Got ya. The 4in from MBRP comes with 3.5 down and then 4 back from there. So Im going to go with the 4 MBRP and then a 7in Pypes tip since they seem to be the one one that I can find that has the look that I want. I really wanted the reg 15 degree slash cut, but cant seem to find it with 4in to 7in so just going to settle for the 15 degree rolled.

Hey RideDiesel88 can you post a pic of your tip from the side view?

I've never posted a pic ill c if I can do it. Whatever route u go, make sure u replace your down pipe. You'll see the stock dp has a glass pack muffler type thing built into it. I was very suprised.

You can sorta see my tip in my sig but its a little hard. I have the angled cut on mine. Honestly 4 to 7 is a little drastic. I would go with a 6" tip

o well, its to late now. its on the way. if it looks dumb, im sure they sell some type of transit pipe that lets you go from a 4in pipe to a 5in pipe where you can place after the axle and then have the pipe closest to where the tip would be, be 5in and that way you can have a 5-7 tip. dont really know unless you dive head first and do it. pictures can be deceiving due to angle and lighting and etc etc lol. OOOOORRRRR you could bring the tip to a metal shop and they can cut down the transit section so its not as long as as noticible. or they could cut the entire transit section off that way theres no transit, it just the 7in tip. similar to this.... 5 Inch Inlet 7 Inch Outlet 18 Inch Length Weld On Chrome Exhaust Tip

FYI SUMMIT RACING MATCHES EBAY "BUY IT NOW" ORDERS AND WILL TAKE AN ADDITIONAL DOLLAR OFF.

I bought my MBRP exhaust from them and they took a dollar off from the ebay price and still honored the free shipping. also by ordering the exhaust and tip at the same time, they voided the 10 dollar handling charge for the tip. i was surprised because most place wont touch an ebay price. just some food for thought.
