How much does my motor really weigh

Just a followup to a discussion on whether the chevy 350 smb currently in my 50 f1 is lighter than the original flathead v8. Seems like the general consenses was the flathead hands down.. hmmm Stubbled
onto this site which has them about the same when your swap the out the cast iron manifold for my alumimum manifold. Interesting info. Doesnt change what I am doing to do but still interesting.. Thought that I would share the link.. This site list a ton of engines and what they weigh.
Engine Weight FYI

I am not sure how accurate that chart is but assuming that it is correct, that means the 460 in my truck now is only 15 LBS heavier than the Y block that came in the truck from the factory. WOW.

This is not very scientific but judging by how much my engine stand flexed and groaned . The flathead V8 is way heavier .

I've seen that chart many places, it has a life of its own. The problem often pointed out is that some of those weights are for fully dressed engines (alternator/generator, exhaust manifolds, flywheel, intake, carb, etc) and some are just long blocks with none of that. The publisher of the list even notes some of the discrepancies in his footnotes.

Shucks, I just learned from the chart that the OHV 240 and 300 CID ford six cylinder engines are L type and the 2.3 liter OHC is an L type engine. No mention of our 223s

Dave's site has been out there since the early 90s and some of his #s seem a little light.... he doesn't mention if that is the dressed weight or just the built engine with no acc or fluids and such....

My 460 with no access and an alum intake and pistons is over 700 # It is a heavy beast !

I had a friend once that bought a 350 from the junkyard... they rolled it out to his truck on the yard truck (i.e. frame/cab/plywood bed ). Then they went to get the forklift to load it into his truck. He was in a hurry so he just wrapped his arms around it, snatched it up and set it in the truck... well, on the tailgate, then he wrestled it in the bed... Now granted, he was a big ole boy.. kinda like that front 4 on the Alabama offensive line.

Someone bet him 20 bucks (back in the early 60's so it was a lot of money) that he couldn't lift the rear end of a 55 chevy off the ground. First try he ran out of legs... the suspension got him... On the second try he stood on a crosstie which gave him another 10" or so of lift... and the tires cleared the ground...
