Greetings! -

I installed a 1975 vintage Ford 300 six engine in my 1966 Ford F100 and need to decide what type of electronic ignition to install. The stock Duraspark II distributor is in place and I have heard good things about the Duraspark II. Is there any advantage to replacing the Duraspark II with a Pertronix distributor?

The real advantage to using the PerTronix over the DS2 is in the weight reduction to your wallet.

 

A DSll with hei module is a bulletproof setup, much more reliable than Pertronix and cheap too.

 

if you've already got the DSII distributor, i'd just install the rest of the DSII system.

the pertronix works fine- as a replacement for points. i can't think of any situation where i'd say it was better than DSII.

 

They are both good systems, but the Duraspark is factory so parts are available at any parts house.

 

Thanks for everyone's advice. I will go wih the DuraSpark II system with all new components.
