Wrecking Yard Run

In about a week I'm going to be hitting up some of the local yards here in socal for some parts for my truck (fontana, ontario areas). If you need anything let me know there are usually about 4-5 dents each yard. Going to be going at it for a few days. Let me know what you need, can more than likely work something out

In my experience Fontana (I'm guessing the Ecology yard?) is a waste of time.
Compare them to Ontario PAP;

Ontario PAP:
"Ok, you got a door, that'll be $43.74"

Ecology:
"Ok, you got a door, $40. Looks like you have a mirror on there too- $7.
2 hinges- $12, door Panel- $15. Inner and outer handle- $14. Arm rest- $8. pieces of trim/molding- $18. Glass- $20. That'll be $134..oops, forgot the window crank! $138."

Riverside/Pyrite PAP is okay at best. Small yard and small selection, esp for trucks. And the cashiers seem to have similar methods as ecology.

I still say Ontario and San Bern are the best. Monoriva isn't that bad, usually not worth the drive though.

If you cant find what you're looking for, my friend has a huge selection of 1960-78 Fords, he is up in Phelan.

He is where I got my 48's and my 75 short bed. Im eyeballing that 4x4 in the background too

Lol yeah fontucky is hit and miss. never had the tack on problem though. My truck needs a lot going to be tearing into some (fenderwells, cab mount etc).not looking to make a killing, just know some of these parts are harder to find elsewhere. Since I'm going to be spending so much time tearing apart and going through yards in the next week figured if anyone needed help looking for something why not help out. 35-40 bucks for some parts is more affordable for a good used part than 100+. Just offering to help out. Lol I'm liking that 4x4 myself

There's a circa 1973/75 F250 4WD Crew Cab at the San Berdoo pick-a-part yard.

Another FTE member found it, took pics of it, then showed them to me. Truck has a HUGE custom front bumper.

FTE member and junkyard scrounger "gangstakr" lives in Hemet, is aware as I also told him about it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Opel wrecking yard in Rialto has a 1977/79 F100/350 8' Styleside bed with dual fuel doors. It's standing upright next to a shed.

How I found it: FTE member "wagonerki" flew in from WA, stayed at my home, bought a 1991 F350 Stake Bed from this yard that was advertised on craigslist.

He had bid on and won a 1966 Bronco complete powertrain from an ebay seller located in Menifee for 100 bucks! He needed to buy a truck to transport it back to Sedro-Woolley.

Opel yard also has (besides dozens of Opels), the rarest of the rare, two Comet ragtops, 1966 & 1967, plus a 1962 Galaxie ragtop, 1959 Cadillac limo and other stuff.

Man, my other project is a 66 rag top Comet...never fails that when I hear of another one, there is an entire continent between me and it! This time there was a border thrown in for good measure!

I've been hittin' CA wrecking yards since the early 1960's. Romo Auto Wrecking in Fresno had a coupla Chevelle wagons, but Romo is no more, closed a coupla years ago.

Romo also had another rare bird, a 1950 Chrysler Town & Country hardtop, had wood doors, decklid. I tried for years to buy it, but it too went to the crusher after Romo closed.

Try Ventura Auto Wrecking in Santa Paula, they have a lotta old rolling piles of misery. There are a few "oughtta the way" wrecking yards on Highway 33 between Avenal and Hanford.

Random funny tidbit. If you followed Hwy 33 roughly 1800 miles eastward you'd drive right thru my town. LOL Maybe you should come visit. LOL

CA State Highway 33 aka the Central Valley Highway, routes from Ojai in the south to Tracy in the north.

I-5 absorbed part of it, so you have to get on one freeway onramp, then exit another, to get back to 33.

Never been to OK, but will be next year. Tulsa gunshow is one reason, Will Rogers is another.
