I don't know the right colors but wanted to say your engine looks tidy. Did you know that Ford used plastic cable retainers that snapped into the holes in the inner fenders to secure your harness on either side of the engine? Makes it look a little more finished.

My catalog lists engine rebuild paint as black and if you have not checked out this thread by Transam525 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...deconstruction
You should read the whole thing as Dustin is doing an incredible job.
But on the last page he states the factory engine color was black for his 1960 292.
Dustin was redeployed in February so we haven't gotten an update for a while. I hope all is well for him.

I dunno what colors engines/valve covers were painted prior to 1960.
ALL 1960/65 FoMoCo engines were painted black, excepting the valve covers.
1952/65 OHV I-6 & V8: The valve covers were painted specific colors, as this was how FoMoCo identified engine sizes for garages & body shops.
1966: First year engines were painted Ford Corporate Blue...including the valve covers.

The shop I worked at (many years ago) we use to turn the valve covers upside down, add a little gas and light them on fire to burn up all the gunk on the inside of the cover. Then we would wire wheel and paint them what ever color was handy. I would not trust valve covers color to be original.
