What color was the 1959 F100 292 engine?

I am trying to find what original colors did my 59 292 engine had. Any pictures would help. And where can I get the original paint?
This is a pic of mine that has the wrong color.

Thanks

I don't know the right colors but wanted to say your engine looks tidy. Did you know that Ford used plastic cable retainers that snapped into the holes in the inner fenders to secure your harness on either side of the engine? Makes it look a little more finished.

Here's a link for what I am trying to describe: Ford - Ford - Ford Pickup Truck Wiring Harness Strap - Plastic - Macs Auto Parts

I think the wire retainers were metal and they didn't use plastic until the 60's sometime

I stripped three trucks for their harnesses and they all had plastic. That's all I am going by.

OK, my 60 didn't have any when I got it and the ones I took off a 57 were metal but you never know what was changed over the years..

This question has been asked many times over the last 10 years and I don't think we have every found documentation on engine color for the 57-60 trucks. It is unfortunate. The early y-blocks in the 54-56 trucks were all yellow.

I don't think Ford started using blue until the mid 60's. My 223 in my 60 is blue just because I like it. Y blocks in late 50's passenger cars were red, but trucks

My catalog lists engine rebuild paint as black and if you have not checked out this thread by Transam525 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...deconstruction
You should read the whole thing as Dustin is doing an incredible job.
But on the last page he states the factory engine color was black for his 1960 292.
Dustin was redeployed in February so we haven't gotten an update for a while. I hope all is well for him.

I dunno what colors engines/valve covers were painted prior to 1960.

ALL 1960/65 FoMoCo engines were painted black, excepting the valve covers.

1952/65 OHV I-6 & V8: The valve covers were painted specific colors, as this was how FoMoCo identified engine sizes for garages & body shops.

1966: First year engines were painted Ford Corporate Blue...including the valve covers.

I worked on a old tilt cab ford box truck with a 272 years ago and the valve covers were gold but that don't mean they were that color when it was made.My uncle had a 56 ford with a 272 and it was black but he was a mechanic at the time and had worked on the engine.

The shop I worked at (many years ago) we use to turn the valve covers upside down, add a little gas and light them on fire to burn up all the gunk on the inside of the cover. Then we would wire wheel and paint them what ever color was handy. I would not trust valve covers color to be original.
