F350 coolant leak

2005 F350 diesel dually 4x4 King Ranch. Truck had no heat in cab. Truck overheated. Checked coolant overflow and it was low. Added water, had heat. Took to Ford, they said radiator had hole and replaced (I never saw fluid on ground) 1 month later, coolant overflow low. I have been adding water (about 1/2 to 1 gallon per week - only drive it 1-2 days per week).
Currently at Ford. They ran pressure check and can not find a leak. They say there is no problem but the fluid is going somewhere. Any suggestions?

Do you have your truck with a diesel Tech. You need to find a good diesel tech not just any shop.
Here is a link to the 6.0l forum.

My truck is at a ford dealer. I am guessing they have a diesel tech working on it

Mines an 04 CowGirl. The leak occurs while running and seemed to be dripping out from the exhaust mid-sector under the truck. If they find it, please let me know what the issue is and how they fixed it. Your issue sounds as bad as mine, and it's just another annoying issue with this particular truck.

I just talked to the tech. They have not located leak yet.
I have never seen any evidence of leak on ground. Not sure if it leaks while driving or sitting. I only drive it a couple of times a week.
From talking with friends, they advised could be EGR cooler or head gasket issue. Tech agreed but didn't say he would check those - go figure.

If you ask at the above link on the 6.0L forum, I am assuming you have a six-o, you can find some real good info.
Do a search 6.0L EGR cooler
Blown head gasket
Disappearing coolant
You can learn how to bullit proof your motor there so, it's fixed right.

Thanks Zedrive. Good luck CG!! Staying subscribed here. My leakage issue won't be fixed for awhile yet, as we're still waiting for the truck to be towed home. Have to get the starting issue corrected first, which'll mean putting her on the Battery charger first.....sighhhh. Did I mention that I HATE waiting...lol.

Hey DuallyCowgirl,
Around here there is alot of diesels that are the 6.0L which is what you have equipped in your 2005. My friend has one the same thing and the same thing happen to her. I went over there with my dad and fiqured it out it had blown head gaskets. I had them send it to a repair shop to put new head gaskets on and to probably get rid of it. I have seen this happen alot in the 6.0Ls so it must be a common problem. My best friend got rid of thier truck and went and bought an older truck with the 7.3L which was the same body style almost but in 1999 to 2002. I would recomend replacing the head gaskets and just selling to get another truck.

I know I am sorry but I am just trying to give advice. I don't want people out there breaking down all the time. I see that enough in Chevys and dodges. Just joking. but really I don't want a fellow ford owner to break down. It might make ford lose it's reputation.

Or you could head down to the 6.0 Forum and learn more about the engine. While the 6.0 doesn't have the best reputation, all of their issues can be fixed to make a very fine engine. The guys that hang out down there are the 6.0 experts. 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

duallycowgirl, u might wanna check our tech folders. from the sound of it, it seems u have disappearing coolant but no apparent leak or puddles. from first glance, it sounds like a blown egr cooler or oil cooler. wat is ur eot & ect spread? if they're more than 15 degrees apart, then u got a dead egr cooler. also, since u mentioned it's at a ford dealer, if u can get ur car plugged into the ford computer, they should be able to pull up some codes. u could also ask the tech to pressure test ur coolant system to determine a leak.

well, i'm sure our senior guys like bismic, cheezit, and the rest will pop by and offer their sagely advice. these guys are the ones i learn from. they're great and i know they will point u in the right direction to ascertaining ur problem.

best of luck!

Blown head gaskets are not a reason to dump your truck.

If addressed and fixed properly and carefully you will be as good as new. Had to have mine done at 200,000km(120,000miles) no studs in this case TTY bolts again and ford gaskets. I am now at 500,000km(300,000miles) with no further indication of head gasket issues.

We have also done 1 FICM, and 1 oilcooler.

One issue is not a reason to sell.
