My truck is a 4 door, 2 wheel drive the TT is 11,000 pounds. It pulled great until the hose blew and the clutch fan was bad and the wrong thermastat had been put in which was stuck ope. Im guessing the tripple threat of that is why it ran hot. Doesnt seem to be aproblem now. The mechanic said it was running firn but the power steering would need replacing cause it starting to make awining noise so that will be the next target as well as finding out why the previouse owner cut out the connection for the heater. He cut it out then shut off all the hoses. What a dummy!! The original miles were 46,000 but I have added another 3,000. It drives good a smooth ride. I love the original seats, head liner etc. I need a arm rest on passenger side if you know where I can get parts?? I like the truck and I plan on learning how to work on it. SO any advice is appreciated. I watch youtube, and Im going to take some classes. Oh by the way I'm a woman, just not the typical one. Im a tom boy and I like working on cars/trucks. My son is taking Auto mecahics and works at the local dealership so the day of paying over priced mechanics are ending real soon!!! I'm doing all the body work getting ready to paint it soon. Then I will jump on the powersteering box and heater. If yo0u know of any way to get better gas mileage Im all ears. I have been told all kinds of stuff from better filters to performance parts. I dont know what to belive. I have 2 tanks but right now only one is good enough to use. The other has rush and trash so that on the to do list as well. I appreciate all the post, Im learning alot so thanks. If any one knows where to get parts that would help. It seems I cant find then in Alabama. I'm willing to drive or ship them. Look forward to your post, thanks again....Oh and by the way dont scare off just cause Im a woman, Im not afraid to get my hands dirty. I have 23 years in the Army I can do anything I put my mind to !!!!

Well the power steering pump might not need to be change anytime soon (for some reason) ford power steering pump don't seem to last to long. I have a 95 f250 that the pump startimg to make noise, and what I've heard or been told it'll whine for a week,a month, a year, a few years or forever. If your not having steering problems I wouldn't worry about it to much. just keep an eye on it. I would imagine the fact you are a women won't have an effect on helping you out.

Haven't read all the comments but here it is: If I had a 460 with 5 grand into it, I'd leave it as it. Diesel is the way to go

One vet to another, thanks for serving.
I don't have my 460 anymore, but it was an '86 f250 reg. cab long bed 4x4 with a 4" lift. The tires were 33x12.50. I did trade up to a diesel, but 20,000 to 30,000 miles a year mostly pulling, I couldn't afford not to. My next door neighbor has that truck now, still running great, and looking better than when he got it. We, the neighbor and I, but a lot of parts for our trucks from Truck Parts and Truck Accessories for Chevy, GMC, Ford and Dodge Trucks from LMCTruck.com Its a great place find those odd little things and then some. For all the more common stuff, such as just about anything under the hood, we go to Napa. We only have a car quest and a napa here, no advance auto nor o'reilly's close by.
