hey number dummy / bill .............

got a question i'm hoping you can answer or maybe one of the rest of you can . i was parts shopping / pricing on oreilly's site today and was looking too see if they had new flywheels for flatty's . well they do and when i started cross referencing numbers and such out of curiousity i see that the old war horse 300 I6 uses the same flywheel according to the parts numbers and such . is this true ? if it is man i can get a new flywheel for a whole lot less than what speedy bill or reds or other vendors are wanting for one .

If I'm wrong someone will surely say so, but I believe that is not correct. The 300-6 uses 6 attaching bolts, and iirc is the same pattern as the SBF. The flathead flywheel used only 4 attaching bolts.

I did a search on the Sachs part number O'reillys shows, and Amazon has it for $10 cheaper, shows it only fits 300-6. Clearly not for a flathead. I don't know anyone who sells a brand new cast iron flywheel for flatheads. If you want to step up to steel, Speedway has them, but get ready to meet your new friend, Ben Dover...
