Need Rear end
#16
Im not sure why it broke i had the ebreak on for about 7 mi and was pulling an empty 12ft box trailer and i had just bought the truck so i was sure how it felt with a load! It gave out right close to my place and i thought the rear gears went out but when i got it home i discovered the axle was broke and when i tried to get the wheel hub off i found that the end of the housing was expanded and i had to break the nut that holds the bearings but the hub still wont come off even though it is very loose so i think the bearings got so hot they got welded to the housing! It does have the 7.3 powerstroke in it because i also have an 7.3 idi! i know the differance! im really not sure what for rear end it has in it now, i was just told when i talked to ford that it has a 3.55 open somthing in it and i ask them if it was a full flow and they said it is not! just trying to figure out what i have and what i should put in it!

he wont be able to use a drw axle.it's much wider,so his wheels would be sticking way out past the bed and wouldn't be able to put srw rims on it either.besides that, they are 5 to 8 times the price.
he could do the dually conversion yes,but that's a whole different story.
a srw sterling full floating 2nd gen is all you need.any f250-f350 (pickup only) from 1993-1997 gas or diesel are all the same.just make sure it's got your 3.55's if that's what you want to stick with.it's that easy.don't let a ford dealership confuse you.
even if (it's not true.the folks you talked too are 100% wrong) it did have a sterling semi floating axle under it,a full floater would bolt right in place of the semi floater, and it's what you would want to put under there anyway.
they generally run just around a couple hundred bucks and are readily available.
it's this simple.
a full floating axle is very easy to spot anyway you know?
lets go pats!

The DRW is only 3-4" wider and the SRW will fit. We have a guy here running a DRW axle with SRW and the wheels sit out just like the front wheels.

Same as me. I swore they were the same width (front and rear), but my buddy proved me wrong. I just figured it was an optical illusion. I guess I need to track down a DRW axle.
