vinyl wrap?

I just got into a 2012 f-350 cab/chassis and I'm thinking about having it wrapped. The truck is white and I want to put a camo pattern on it.
The thought is that the paint will stay safe under the vinyl, and I'll never have to wax it. If I sell this thing one day, the vinyl can come off and the paint should be close to new underneath.
A few questions now-
Is vinyl cheaper than paint?
How long will it last?
How much of a PITA is it to remove?
Anything else about vinyl that I need to know?
Thanks

I wouldn't ruin a perfectly good paint job with that vinyl wrap. You being in S. TX is about like it is here in Fla. - you get plenty of sun damage. The Florida sun ruins vinyl quick. There's a couple trucks I've seen down here that have the vinyl camo along the bottom and on the bug shield and 1 truck did the complete wrap. You can tell the ones that were recently done or live in a garage from the ones that are in the sun all the time. The vinyl fades, begins pealing at the seams & edges and its all down hill from there. I don't know how easy it is to get the parts off that stick but would imagine the baked on adhesive residue would be a task.

If you maintain your paint, especially new paint, it will look great for a long time. Vinyl is great for advertising but it has a few downfalls. 1. Paint is porous and needs to breathe, vinyl will seal it up and in the long term cause damage. 2. The adhesive, come time totake the vinyl off will give you fits, especially on a full wrap. It will also coincide with the first issue and of left on long enough, you run the chance of potentially pulling off some paint, along with the vinyl.
