Trans Cooler Flush

Trans Cooler Flush
Getting closer to doing the 6.0 cooler conversion. I have a used cooler that was flushed and pressure tested by the seller, and it appears that it may have bee been hot tanked from the looks of it. I am thinking of doing one last rinse to make sure that there is nothing left inside the tubes but don't know what to use. Water just doesn't sound like a good idea, trans fluid is too thick to effect a good flush ( I think ). I was thinking of acetone as it will evaporate quickly but I don't know if it may leave any harmful residue/deposits that could react with the trans fluid or trans seals ETC. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks, Mike

I usually run mineral spirits, followed by denatured alcohol, then a final pass with ATF after it comes clean enough to not spot a paper towel placed on the outlet when blowing through it. You can also get an aerosol flush from a parts house, i.e. O'Reilly's or Autozone. This is the one that my local O'reilly's had in stock.
I will be adapting the end of the hose to flush my OTW cooler in the radiator before installing my new 6.0 trans cooler. I'm doing my usual flush, then following it with the aerosol.

How to flush?
Appreciate all your help on this forum Roland and especially the help you gave me with info on my steering damper install a while back. On this topic would like to learn exactly how you do the flush with the fluids you've noted you use. How much do you use, how do you get them in there, how do you get them out etc ? Thanks again!

Always glad to help, David.
I borrow our a/c flush gun from work like this one:
The bottle holds ~ 1 qt and fill it a couple times with each round of solvent. I have also backflushed the cooler by filling the line with a quart bottle such as the gear oil one with the nipple on it, then pressurizing it with a rubber tipped blowgun. With either method, I continue to blow into it until the air comes out clear and dry.
