Well we have one more day here in Missouri (Saturday). Most of the house is packed and ready to go on the moving truck starting tomorrow late afternoon, early evening. We leave for Durham North Carolina early sunday morning, taking our time driving in and should be at the house this next tuesday sometime.
Would anybody know of a nice place to stop in the Mountains for a nice night. I really didn't see even much of a scenic look out area along the highwat going through the mountains a month or so ago. My wife will be driving her 08 Escape, sone Tim is his 98 ZX2, and I'll be in my 01 F150, yes we're Ford fans!

Sounds like its coming together. Hope y'all have a smooth, uneventful move/trip. May have to detour off 40 to get the more scenic route. You pass through some state parks that aren't far off the main hwy. You could pick up the BRP blue ridge parkway in ashville and follow it to 80 then head down into marion to jump back on 40. But that could add some significant time to your trip. Let us know when you get settled or if you need some local assistance. Have a good weekend.
Thanks james, I appreciate the detour info. That is the same area my father in-law told me about. Sounds like a nice drive, but this trip is simply to get the Durham. We're still taking it easy, we'll be heading out tomorrow (Sunday) morning half way early I hope. We should be at the new place sometime Tuesday. All of the utilities are on, cable is set to be installed early wednesday, so I can watch "Duck Dynasty"!!!!!
Look forward to meeting you all shortly!

Thanks a bunch, he will be missed here alot. Him and I have been FTE buddies along time, to the point that his family and even our chapter leader came to my wedding.
And we drove off in out Ford mud truck project (OL RED)....wife's idea.
Thanks again Rich... You are the first real friend that I've made on the FTE. And will NOT forget!
We're here in Durham NC! The drive is overwith, just over 940 from driveway to driveway. We get the key's to the new house tomorrow morning, and can finally relax and pop some tops.
Already met a new neighbor that got him an 8 pointer, and has promised this fat boy some deer meat. I can taste a pot of Deer Meat Chilli in my vary near future

Oh ok rub it in as I get back on the plane tomorrow....I 'll miss the whole rifle season. But I will get a mess of bambi meat from the x bro inlaw, and do no more than ask.
Yea we have known each other a long time thanks to FTE, I think Tim was 13 or 14 the first time you all came up?
And got ol kabluie its side wall stob and plug trick after our back 40 4byin trip. I appreciate all the help over the years.
940 is nothing but a weekender, ya just never know who will pull in the driveway some day.
Well rest assured, Some of the good ole boys here in N.C. are looking forward to meeting you. I guess we need to start planning on the Monthly dinner near your way to welcome you to our chapter. NCHeavymetal and I have been all over the triangle to the triad for a meal and since Feb. we have kept the meeting alive even if it was just the two of us. There are a couple of fellers who come up here local to the sawmill in town from Missouri and they have been trying to get a couple of us to come over to the ******** festival every year. Just don't sound too tasty but they say it's awesome. Maybe one day. But welcome to N.C. and I hope you find it is a great place to hang your hat.

We have to see what happens. We'll be here for atleast a year and give the wife's new job, and new state a fair chance. I'm on long term disability, for a buggered up back and hip. So I have the best schedule in the house, but the pay sucks. I'm all about a good meal. We've found our way to WallyMart in Raliegh, just 10 minutes away, down 70hwy. I don't think there is a store that isn't in that mess.
