Building a 408 stroker & want to convert to a manual
I'm rebuilding my 351 Cleveland into a 408 stroker out of my 1971 Ranchero, and while I'm in there, I want to convert it from a c-4 to a 5 or 6 speed manual.
I'm aiming for 400+ horse power and torque. It would be street only. And I have a 9" rear end.
The reseach I've done so far has led me to believe I need either a t-5 world class or a TKO 500 and up.
I'm afraid the T-5 may not be able to handle the torque, as I was told it was rated at around 300 ft lbs. I know TKOs are expensive but if that's what I need to do, I'll do it.
Does the almighty internet have any helpful information for me? Bolt patterns, bell housings, linkage, a different transmission to look into?? Thank you in advance!
