Exhaust before rear tires?

Anyone have their exhaust dump in front of their rear tires? is there any positive or negatives to this?

Pics would help so i can get a look at what it would look like

Thanks

The only "minus" I can see is a bit more cab noise. The plus side is mounting mud flaps without making room for the pipe(s)/ I use conveyor belt for the 'flaps' as the material is almost bullet-proof and will not wear out like semi-truck flaps and most of it has a rubber or vinyl 'inside' that has a tendency to sluff off mud and snow. Some "Mudders" use a piece of it across the front bumper to lessen mud into the motor/fan.

If you don't have it turn out, you can end up with some really bad resonance in the cab. I used to have mine end right under the rear seat, and it gave me headaches when driving. I put a 2 foot extension on so now it ends under the bed, and I don't get any resonance at all.

I like how GRINNERGETTER has his but mine arnt fenderwell exit headers.... But i plan on having them dump right infront of the tires like that

Also, do i go with 3" or 2.5".... And for best perfomance and backpressure, do i go with a criss cross "X"?

Here's how mine was with chassis headers and duals on the old 390. The flowmasters were turned upright along the intermediate shaft. I still have everything from the collector flanges to the tips if anyone wants a near bolt on setup.

Here it is now with a single 4" off the turbo.

Perfect! How loud was it in your cab? And is that 2.5" or 3"?

It really wasn't loud in the cab but it sounded seriously cool when driving by a wall at speed. The pipes are 2.5" with 3.5" stainless tips. The muffs have center inlets and offset outlets.

i'm going with 2.25" or 2.5" duals, with an 'x' pipe. dumping in front of the tires to the edge of the running boards. this is with a 4.6 small block mod engine.
thinking of using some nice quiet muffs and electric cut outs with 30"+ glasspacks. both pipes on each side connecting before the final turn for the exit. so i'm using the same tips for both noise levels...

Didn't Ford only do this stock in 1997 because it gets black **** on the wheels? Don't quote me on that though.

I don't know for sure but I kinda doubt it because a gas engine would have to be running seriously rich to cause that. In 15 years of that setup on a healthy big block I never had a hint of residue on the wheels. My current oil burner is a different story, though. It's no big deal, I just scrub the one wheel every once in a while.

Cool. Is there a reason you went with 2.5 instead of all 3" or 3.5"?
