Trouble installing adjustable lower kingpin
I recently bought a Dana 60 to replace my 44HD.
During the teardown, the lower kingpin assemblies were a huge PITA to remove, and after some serious tool abuse, we found out why. The lowers are the cam-shaped adjustable type.
While trying to walk the lowers back into place by hitting the 4 bolts in the baseplate about one turn each, in a circle and diagonally with the impact gun, I stripped the threads out of the cast iron knuckle, and had to re-tap them all.
Looking for any tips for installing these little b@st@rds.
