Well, I sold my F-150 the other day. Today I bought a sharp looking well taken care of '02 mountaineer with 72000 miles for $6700. It has AWD and the V-8. I fell in love with it during the test drive. Dealer had $10,500 on the tag with it reduced to $9999. I was actually going to look at an explorer he had. He said I didn't want that when I was on my way over to it. He said look at the mountaineer instead. I figured when he told me the mileage it was out of my budget. I almost left, he said it was negotiable. I told him what I'd spend and took it for a spin. He then preliminary figured it up at my price. But after taxes and doc fees I told him he was over my budget again. He proceeded to figure it backwards and got it down to close to what I told him I'd give. So I brought it home. Estate green metallic with a silver bottom.

Yeah, when he told me the mileage, I figured it would be out of my range. He must have wanted to sell pretty bad. I drove it about 100 miles yesterday, only 2 things I found wrong with it was I believe the brake shield had a slight rub, (they put new pads and rotors on it). I pulled on it a bit and the sound is gone. Also, it seems to have the belt chirp problem with the a/c compressor kicking in and out. There's not a dent or scratch in the entire vehicle that I could find, 2 little rock chips is all.

excellent buy. We have a 98 mountaineer.

Aside from stuff like brakes/hubs and the fuel filler it has been pretty good.

Oh, we did a tranny rebuild at 170K.

Still gets around 350 miles per tank (V6).

Will be in Northern PA this next week, down to VA and then at the end of the month in upper NY. So it gets a workout and is easy to drive.
